SEMESTER-1 CHAPTER 2 STATIC ELECTRICITY

On rubbing polythene with duster polythene becomes negative and duster becomes positive

On rubbing glass rod with duster glass rod becomes positive and duster becomes negative.

On rubbing perspex rod with duster perspex becomes positive and  duster becomes negative.

Questions

1. Storm clouds can become charged leading to lightning. How can a cloud become charged?

2.An ion has 10 protons and 9 electrons .What is its charge?

The balloon on rubbing will get negatively charged. When it is brought near the wall,it induces positive charge in the wall.Opposite charges attract and so the balloon sticks to the wall.

Static Electricity

When an unbalanced charge collects on the surface of an object the charge is called static charge.

The electric force depends on

1.How close the particles are.The closer they are, larger the force .

2.How much electric charge they carry. The more charge ,the larger the force.
